Not too long, not too hard, not too soft... I sound like Goldilocks here! Well, this thing is right in the sweet spot so I guess Goldilocks is getting the freak on. Seriously, this dildo feels very close to the real thing and if you're going for the brass ring the fact that it is a bit more flexible is a good thing. Big for a beginner probably but not too big for the average user. If you're a size queen, this would probably be a good warm up partner. If you're beginning with this (wow aren't you the adventurous one!), use lots of lube (water based or possibly coconut oil), go really slow and you should be fine. Supposedly soft medical grade silicone and while I didn't try the fire test to verify, it does feel right as far as texture and softness.
